Thinking Day 2013


Hey Guides! The annual Thinking Day is nearing! :) Please read the information below carefully.

    World Thinking Day HQ celebrations 

    Date: 16 February (Saturday).
    Time: 0730 - 1100
    Venue: The Meadows, Gardens by the Bay
               18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018953

Please keep this day free! We will confirm the names of the Guides who will have to attend this event at a later date.


 World Thinking Day competitions

· Girl and Family Look-alike photo
- Each patrol will send in minimum 2 photo entries (PLs may choose to send in more entries)
-   A creative work in the form of a digital photograph which captures the WTD theme, “Forging Family Ties”
- While it is important to be creative in the photo submission, you must follow the theme given.
- A short 30-50 word description/caption for the photo must be included as well
- Submission:
   Photographs in softcopy jpeg. format (saved in a CD which will not be returned) & hardcopy (photo must be developed on photo quality paper & pasted on the form)
- Deadline for submission of form & CDs (place in plastic folders)15 January 2013 (Submit to your Coy's respective CL)

· Bear Making
- Each patrol will send in minimum 1 bear entry  (PLs may choose to send in more entries)
- A creative work in the form of creating a bear with a height between 25 cm and 40 cm. 
- The bears can be sewn, crocheted, needle-felted, knitted (or combined techniques).
- Clothes such as T-Shirt, apron, trousers, jumper, overalls, costume, dress etc. are allowed.
- Entries can be self designed or by using the template provided (attached)
- A coloured photograph (printed on photo quality paper) must be pasted onto the application form.
- Each entry must have a title (written on application form)
- Place each patrol's bear in a clear plastic ziplock bag of appropriate size 
- Deadline of submission: 15 January 2013 (Submit to your Coy's respective ACL)

· What Family Ties Means To Me
- Every guide will submit in 1 entry
- A creative work in the form of a prose titled “What Family Ties Means To Me” not exceeding 50 words
-  Poems must be the original work of the entrant.
- Handwritten entries will not be accepted. Entries should be typed with font type Arial size 12 and printed in black ink on A4 paper. Entries can be double or single spaced.
- No of words must be specified at the end of each entry 
- Each guide to type their full name on their A4 paper.
- Do not forget to write in the title of entry on BOTH application form & A4 paper. 
- Entries must be written in English 
- All entries must be submitted together with application form stapled to the front.
- Deadline of submission: 15 January 2013 (Submit to your Coy's respective CL)

· Ode to Mother / Father Poem
- Every guide must submit in 1 poem
- A creative work in the form of a poem titled “Ode to Mother” or “Ode to Father”
- Title must be included for all entries
- All poems must not exceed 25 lines in length (excluding title)
- Entries should be typed with font type Arial size 12 and printed in black ink on A4 paper. Entries can be double or single spaced.
- Entries must be written in English 
- All entries must be submitted together with application form stapled to the front.
- Each guide to type their full name on their A4 paper.
- Do not forget to write in the title of entry on BOTH application form & A4 paper. 
- Deadline of submission: 15 January 2013 (Submit to your Coy's respective ACL)

All the forms required will be passed to each Guide by Monday. We will go to your class and pass it to you personally. If you did not receive the form by the end of Monday, please inform your respective ACLs. Please check that all entries are complete (with correct form attached, correct COY written, title of entry written etc) and pass it to your respective CLs/ACLs by 15 January 2013. (Fiona CL and Min Hui ACL are in 4BN, Kezia ACL is in 4CR and Jia Wen CL is in 4EP) Any queries, please contact your Coy's CL/ACL.
