Activity on 4 September (inter-cca) :D

For today’s activity, the sec2s had 5point test and the sec3s had inter-cca competition. The sec3s were to assemble at the LT1 at 2.45pm. Originally, we had 22 sec3s but because some of them had Teachers’ Day preparations and some had to be in charge of the sec2s, only 10+ sec3s participated in the inter-cca. Nevertheless, this did not affect our moral and we did our best for the competition.

There were 4 kinds of games to take part in, Modified Floorball, Frisbee, Goalball and Sitting Volleyball. I was in the team for Sitting Volleyball. The day’s activity started off late as we took awhile to settle down for the teachers to brief us. After the briefing, we were sent to our respective venues.

The first game for Sitting Volleyball was Guides VS Volleyball. I was really excited as it was my first time playing this game. At first, I thought that the game would be boring as we were only able to sit down and so we cannot move around fast enough to catch the ball but the game was actually very enjoyable. As we cannot move fast enough, we had to cooperate with each other to be able to coordinate well and catch the ball. In the end, Guides lost to Volleyball 13-16 but it was still a very good game and I found it really enjoyable.

I think that the inter-cca is really very meaningful and games like Sitting Volleyball and Goalball makes us experience how the handicapped plays the game. Through these games, we can learn to think for others and think in other people’s point of view.
The games ended and we went back for a debrief. All the sec3s who participated got a coupon where we can exchange for a can of H2O at the canteen! There was also a milo cart for the sec3s during the inter-cca! Overall, I really enjoyed myself and I hope to have more of these activities next time.

Reflection for 30 August :)

On Friday's activity, we fell in at the concourse in our full uniform and did the usual greetings and uniform check. Many of our uniform were not up to standard and we were 18 minutes late. After that, we had colour party before doing a bit of drilling. Next, we had games! We were supposed to cross over to another side while standing on newspapers and were allowed to move on and get another newspaper by answering a question correctly. Unfortunately, we did not have much time and had to proceed to the next activity which was outdoor cooking! The theme was " Potato Land " , we had to make potato as our main item in our dish. We were taught how to start a fire , and most of us were quite successful in doing so which I think was good as we took quite a long time to start it last time. My patrol made mash potato and cheese with sausage which I think was really nice!! :-) After cooking, we had to clean up. Despite many warnings from the seniors, we choked up the sinks. We were then given a lecture by them which I think we should all really reflect on. Like what they've said, it is our responsibility and they should not have to clean up our mess. Also, we had a lot of mistakes for that day and I feel we have to improve on our attitude and punctuality too. I hope we can strive to do better next time and aim to have 0 mistakes as what cheng sing pl said!

Reflection for 28 August :)

On the 28th August, we fall in in our Guides half uniform and did uniform check and roll call as usual. Then, the Sec 2s did drilling while the Sec 1s were taking their tests. We did alot of drilling and I feel that we can improve more on our drilling and be more alert as our drilling was not that good and there is alot of room for improvements. After the Sec 1s took their tests, we were told to go to the sec 1 classes for our initiative. We made houses made up of ice cream sticks and we painted it and hung individual photos of our company's Guides. Each patrol does one house and within a patrol, work was distributed. My patrol did not manage to complete the house in time however we still managed to stick it together in the end, we had alot of fun painting the house, experimenting with different mixtures of colours. My patrol bonded more as a patrol and had alot of fun and we grew closer and I think all the other patrols also had fun and bonded more with one another. I hope there are more initiatives like these in which we can bond more with other patrols or even within our own patrol and with both coys. Then after we were done with our initiatives, we helped to clean up the classrooms and then went to the concourse and had a sharing session. Each patrol was told to share what interesting fact we had found out during this initiative. I found out alot more about my patrol members and we bonded more together. The sharing session was really fun as it brought laughter, joy and cheers to everyone of us. After that, we fall in by the concourse and were dismissed from there. Overall, this activity was really fun, meaningful and enjoyable! :)
