29/05/2013 Activity Reflection ;D

The activity on 29th May was the last activity for the term and semester before the June holidays. We had our yearly photo taking and the sec 1s and 2s were very excited. We made sure that we looked smart and neat in the guides uniform as it represented our pride for guides. Perhaps it was the last time we could see our sec 4 seniors in the guides uniform, but we will always remember them as our guides seniors and respect them. During the gadget making time, the sec 2s have to guide the sec 1s to make a clothes line. The clothes line that my patrol tied was wobbly and not stable, but we will do better next time. Next, we had PT and I feel that it builds up my stamina and endurance physically. Furthermore, it brings out the ‘one for all; all for one’ spirit of guides. Besides, all the cheering made me feel proud of guides and be motivated to participate enthusiastically.

First Aid Course :)

Reader's badge for sec 1s

Hi guides! :)

As I've mentioned during the last activity, all sec 1s will have to do your reader's badge over the June holidays.


Readers badge criteria:

1.
1.1 Read a book in any language, written by one of the Eastern authors;
1.2 Read a story book written by one of the Western authors.
1.3 Read at least 2 of the following books related to Scouting/Guiding
- The Wolf that Never Sleeps

For the read aloud clause 4, you will be expected to read the passages out fluently. Passage for clause 4.2 will be given on a later date. The test will be conducted after the June holiday.


Deadline:
5 entries on 3 July. 3 more entries by 10 July.
No late submission is allowed.

Do note that as there are 8 books in which you would have to read & review, you should be consistent in your work by spreading your work out evenly throughout the holiday and manage your time well as no more extension will be given. Please have the responsibility to submit your work on time.

Heyyyy guides!

Since Friday is PTC, we'll be having activity on Wednesday instead :) We'll also be having Guides photo taking on Wednesday.

Reflection 17/5

During activity on 17/9, Friday, its the sec3s first activity as seniors and we were all quite nervous. The sec 2s and sec 1s were told to fall in at 2.30 and as usual, we started the greeting. After that, we started our first activity which was tent pitching! :) Each patrol was told to build a tent and we walked around helping those patrols that were not very sure of how to pitch a tent. After the tents were pitched, Jingyu briefed them slightly and pointed out to them the mistakes they made when pitching the tent and the things to take note of. After that, they were told to unpitch the tent and move on to the next activity which was the making of a sit-upon. Some of us taught the sec 1s to make the sit-upon first and some drilled the sec2s, while the remaining sec3s went to the field to pitch a canvas tent. The sit-upon was quite interesting as I have never made one before and it was quite simple. All thats needed to make a sit-upon is just a few pieces of newspaper!:) Everyone was supposed to make a sit-upon for themselves which will be used for the upcoming june camp! After making the sit-upons, everyone was briefed about the upcoming camp and given a consent form. We sang taps and was dismissed after that:)
As a whole, I think this activity was quite a good experience for us sec3s as we learnt many things from this activity! ^^

Guides Activity on 27/03/13

Hi Guides!

Since this Friday is Good Friday, Guides activity will be on this coming Wednesday, 27/03/13 instead.

This wednesday activtiy will be the Sec1s enrolment ceremony so all of you are required to BRING your FULL UNIFORM(on a hanger) and BERET. (with all your SEWN badges)

You are to fall in in the concourse at 2.30PM sharp with GUIDES HALF UNIFORM(GREY GUIDES TEE AND BLUE SKIRT). (with Blue skirt on top of your PE SHORTS)You are to also report WITH PLAITS TIED NEATLY because time will not be given for you to tie your hair during the activity. Try to tie your hair during recess or before you come to school.
Please also ensure that your nails are cut, WHITE SOCKS up to 4 fingers high up your ankle, fringe clipped up etc. Ensure that you only use BLACK RUBBER BANDS/CLIPS and NOT WEAR EARRINGS when you report to activity because you are not allowed to don on these accessories when you are in full uniform.


Please remember to hydrate yourselves well the night before and in the morning on the day itself! :)

There is an upcoming CIP event at HQ Camp Christine clean up on 29th June ( Saturday) from 8am-12.30pm :)

The SANA course is open for registration again! This badge is compulsory for all Sec3s that have yet to get the badge last year. Hey Sec3s,

Report at concourse at 3PM SHARP tomorrow with guides blue camp tee and school skirt :) make sure that you wear pe shorts inside and ensure that you wear white socks. (short fingernails, skirt to appropriate length, pinned up fringe etc.)
