Reflections for 21/2

On 21/2/13, Thursday, it was Thinking Day! :D We reported to school at 6:45 in our full Guides uniform. As usual, the seniors conducted a uniform check. After that, we were told to fall in right in front of the Grand Audi. The ceremony wasn't exactly complicated, but I think we looked rather impressive, executing the commands as one. When we turned to the back, I remember seeing some people stare at us in awe! x) The ceremony ended quickly and we assembled at the concourse. There, we did the Intro Cheer and we sang the birthday song for Lynn QM! \o/ That day, the Guides were really distinct because of their attire, and I felt really proud wearing the uniform! ^^

Reflections for 16/2

For today's guides activity, 16 of February, its world thinking day 2013 celebration at Gardens by the Bay. We started off by meeting at web of life at 730 am. All different types of schools gathered here today. It was pretty cool to see all varieties of guides’ uniform that is different from ours. :) First off, we gathered on the field and sat on the ground sheet since the grass was wet and muddy. The MCs for the day started off with introductions etc. Next, helpers helped to give out two buns and one bottle of NEWater and an additional packet of Oreo as refreshments for the walkathon later. Afterwards, we gathered school by school in rows of two, getting prepared for the walkathon. Throughout the whole walk, it was pretty cool as we could see the different areas in Gardens by the Bay. It was also refreshing and walking while talking with my friends is really enjoyable. Also, I saw beautiful and cool flowers and plants there. :D The walk was pretty short and it was unexpected for me. We went back to our spots earlier on and we had a cheering session. We did the guides promise, world song, and some cheers like the cannibal king and this is the guiding light of mine. The VIPs gave out the prizes and we ended early because they had to leave. We sang taps and they dismissed us. After the dismissal, we had a group photo taken followed by a loud intro cheer. x) When we were dismissed, we were allowed to take Milo from the Milo truck if we haven't done so. THE MILO WAS AWESOME. :D. We went our separate ways after that. :)
All in all, the whole activity was fun even though it was short. Moreover, we get to see friends from the same CCA from other schools too! :D

Reflections for 15/2 Activity

On the 15 of February, we kicked start our activity with the usual greetings at 2.30pm. Next, the sec1s were told to form a separate squad while the sec 2s and 3s proceeded with inter patrol games organised by a group of sec 3s.

First, we had a telematch at the field. It was really interesting as the group of sec 3s planned todays activity such that they drew a link between gadget making and the telematch. We were told to run to a certain line and do 10 quats on the spot. Next, we had to frog jump to the next line and pick up our skipping rope and skip to the finishing line where the gadget poles were placed. We were supposed to collect 8 poles in total so that we could use the poles to build our shoe rack. The patrol that finishes their shoe rack firsts will get a higher score.

After the telematch, the patrols started building the shoe rack. However in the midst of fun and laughter, it started to rain a little and we all ran back to the concourse with our half done shoe rags and dangling twines. We then completed our shoe rack and asked for it to be inspected.

After we were done with the inter patrol games, we had cheering sessions and we were taught the world song as we had to attend world thinking day 2013 on Saturday. We all had fun cheering away in the concourse.

As founders day is coming up soon, the seniors then practiced the contingent drills with us to ensure that we wouldn't make mistakes on the day itself. After practicing a few rounds, it was already reaching 5 o'clock and activity had to come to an end.

Although Friday's activity was pretty short, we all had fun with the inter patrol games and the cheering session. :D

Reflections for 6/2

Guides in their patrols welcoming the sec ones.
                                    Station games ! :)

Today, 6/2, we had Welcoming Party for the Sec ones. Firstly, we started with our weekly routine.  Soon , we started the Welcoming Party with the Party. The patrols  brought food for the Sec ones and to get to know the sec ones better. After the party, we had station games. Since I was a station master for the Rubber Band jumping rope station, I didn't get to see what the patrols did at other stations but I heard that it was very fun. Soon enough, we left our "Station" and went back to the concourse for the Bonding time. We were split into Coy 1 and Coy 2. We played 007 and Animal Farm. I could hear the laughter from the Guides as I walked past them to prepare for the Prize giving. When we gave out the prizes, Jing Yu shouted the loudest when her Patrol got first in the Station Games. I was glad that everyone was happy and that the Welcoming Party went well :)

Reflections on 1/2 Activity :)

For today's guides activity, 1/2, we started off with our normal routine. We had our greetings, then uniform check. Afterwards, we had flag raising. This flag raising was very special to me as it was the sec 3s who set up the entire thing. Moreover, it was our first time and I personally felt that it was not bad for a first timer. I was looking forward to the activity because there was flag raising and we get to wear our full uniform which was really pretty and unique!

After flag raising, we had water break and the sec 2s & 3s separated into different squads. For the sec 3s, we practiced drilling 'belok' and 'yang tinggi' most of the time.

After sufficient practicing, it was our foot drill test round 1. The seniors tested our 'begerak', 'jalan' and 'hentak'. From there, the seniors picked 12 people. After taking a short water break, the selected guides had their drilling test round 2, which was to command in English and Malay, as well as set ceremonies like roll call, horse shoe or colour party. I really enjoyed this activity because commanding is new to me and having a chance to try it out is rare to me as well.

Reflections for Activity on 25/1

Today, 25/01, we had UG experience w/ the sec ones! :D Firstly, we gathered as usual, roll call and get started for this week's activity ! ^^ For this week activity, we did some cheering first, teaching the new sec ones some of the cheers, like a cannibal king, gaiko the frog etc. Then, we proceed on to the second activity which was hand craft! ^^ using the materials that were asked to bring such as soda cans, white threads, art and craft puncher and hole punch, we were gonna create something that was similar to a campanula, also known as the windbell. It was interesting as using from scrap materials, we could gave the object a second life. Both helping our Mother Earth and being innovative. It was definitely some new and creative ! :) Due to the lack of time, we were unable to complete our windbell, so it was a tiny regret. But it's okay, what's more important was the process, as many got to interact w/ our sec ones, showing them what was for guides, getting to know them more and interacting w/ them all. We truly had many joy and laughter. :) Then, sadly, it marked the end of our UG experience of the day. After we send our sec ones off, we had some drilling session again and the activity for the week ended. Overall, UG experience always allows me to be able make more new friends, and an opportunity to learn to take care of my juniors in preparation of stepping up, definitely a rewarding session. :)
