Reflection for activity on 29 January!!

On Friday, after role call, coy 1 will be drilling first and coy 2 had to clean the guides room. We had to make sure the guides room was dust-free thus we used wet wipes to clean the cupboards and shelves. Then, we had to think of ways to renovate the guides room. At around 4.30pm, coy 1 and 2 swapped so coy 1 cleaned the guides room and coy 2 drilled. After some time of drilling, coy 2 formed a horseshoe formation so that those who didnt get their badge last week will get it on Friday. After that, we continued drilling. The seniors told us our mistakes and we had to improve our drilling so that we would do well for drilling badge. Lastly we learned the world song. However not everyone was singing.

Shall sing our song

All those who loved the true and good,
Whose promises were kept
With humble minds whose acts were kind
Whose honour never slept
Those were the free and we must be
Prepared like them to live
To give to all both great and small
All we can give

Reflection for 15th January 2016 :-))

15/01/2016
Second activity for the year, first time wearing full Guides Uniform in awhile. We fell in as usual at 3.15 and had uniform check, followed by roll call. Next we proceeded to split into sec2 and sec3 squads and practiced our drillings individually. The sec3s split into two squads and we started practicing our drills as we have become rusty especially after the long break. Some of ex ex ex seniors came back and saw us drilling, and I could tell that they were very disappointed as our standards have dropped a lot. Afterwards, we had a HTHT session with the seniors. They told us about the drilling badge that was coming up and how we needed to buck up our drilling if we wanted to earn the drilling badge, and asked us confidentially if we wanted to badge or not. The seniors also told us more about their roles as CL/ACL/QM/PL/PS to help us in deciding what rank we want, and that whether or not we get the rank depends on how hard we work from now. After the HTHT session we went back to doing intensive drilling, and every mistakes we made were accounted for. Overall activity was quite tiring as we did not drill for a long time and I think I should really start working towards the goal I want in Guides in the future. I think individually and as a squad, we also need to improve our drilling to do the seniors proud! With roughly 4 months left before stepping up, I should really learn as much from the seniors as I can!!

-Yuen Zhi Xin ( Mynah Patrol )

Reflection for first activity of 2016!! ( 13 January ) ;-))

On Wednesday, 13 January, we started by doing our usual routines. We fell in at 3.15 pm, did uniform check and roll call. Afterwards, the seniors split the sec 3s from the sec 2s and we started to practice our drilling. During drilling, some were called out to command. When it was my turn, I was a little nervous and made some mistakes but it was fun overall. Then, it was time to do physical training. Many of the sec 3s were excited for it as it has been a long time since we last did it. Although it was not as vigorous compared to last time, we were glad to be able to clear some mistakes and train ourselves to be fitter.
