Volunteers for Checking of sec4 gifts !

Hi Guides :)

The tuesday and thursday slots for checking of gifts for sec4s are cancelled. Wednesday's slot is still on.
Sorry as there are some Issues with the pax no. some people wer removed from the wednesday's slot. Nevertheless, there is another slot on Tuesday during the September holidays for the checking of gifts. It will be from 9am to 12pm. Please take the initiative and volunteer by texting me. You can ask your PLs or PSs for my number . :)

Reflections for 17/8 activity :)

When I reach the lake side, guides are sitting in circles in our EDD group to discuss about competitions. After that, we did outdoor cooking. I joined in another patrol as most of our patrol members did not come. We cooked fried rice and it was very fun as we gain skills of outdoor cooking when we are trying to set up the fire. Then, we did our five point test, it is a little different from the previous test, we are divided in groups of 3 or 4 and we have to sort out things that will be in a first aid kit and things that are not suppose to be in. Some of us also tried to tie the arm sling. I felt that this kind of test are more fun as we get to work in groups and interact with other guides than to sit down and do the test paper. After the five point test, we did a new version of PT. I like it very much as it is fun and creative, using new ways of PT allow the seniors to join us and have more fun while doing the physical training. Although the PT was tiring, it is really fun and I had a great afternoon in guides. （^_^）

Greenie Beanie Day :D !

Hi Guides ! :D 
There will be a 'Greenie Beanie Day' coming up ! :D
Details as follow:

Date: Sat 3 November 2012

Time: 9.00 am to 2.00 pm

Venue: Camp Christine

Fees: $10 per Guide  

Lunch: Provided

There will be a Pre-event competition as well as an actual day competition! :D

Pre-event competition

1) Design a green beanie patch

2) Comic Strip

Details for pre-event competition. 

1.      Design a Greenie Beanie Day Patch (Pre-event competition for Brownies and Guides)

Trophies will be awarded for the top 3 winning designs. The top design would be made into an event patch and given to all participants as a souvenir.

The drawing must be fully coloured and submitted in the A4 size form attached. A description of about 100 words must be included to explain the icons used in the design. Kindly note that the design should be large and all details must be clearly visible for patch making purpose. 

Each person can only send in one entry but there is no limit to the no. of entries per school.

2.      Comic strip “Greenie Beanie Saves the Day” (Pre-event competition for Brownies and Guides)

The comic strip should consist of 6 frames telling the story of how Greenie Beanie saves the day.

The drawings must be fully coloured and submitted in an A3 size drawing paper, together with the attached form. 

Trophies will be awarded for the top 3 winning designs. Selected designs would be displayed during the Greenie Beanie Day for all to admire. 

Each person can only send in one entry but there is no limit to the no. of entries per school.

For designing a patch, you are to print out and submit page 1 and 2 of the form. 

For comic strip competition, you are to print and submit only page 1 of the form.

(* It is a must to print out the form for registration! :D)

****Forms will be sent to you by your emails! :D

There are no specific guidelines on what you can draw for both competitions, but it has to be in line with "being green/environmental-friendly". You should also include BEAN/seed into your designs. So, let all your creative juices run wild! 

Each guide is to submit BOTH the Beanie Greenie Patch as well as the Comic Strip. It is a must to do both! Please submit your entries by 24 August to your respective CLs/ ACLs ( Coy 1: Fiona CL & Kezia ACL / Coy 2: Jiawen CL & MinHui ACL)

1) Orienteering 

Orienteering is a family of sports that requires navigational skills using a map and compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain, and normally moving at speed. Participants are given a topographical map, usually a specially prepared orienteering map, which they use to find specific locations(will be given by the organisor).

2) Kim's Game 

(Note: This is just a rough idea of the basic Kim's Game; the actual game on the event day may/ may not be similar)

There will be 20 articles on a tray.

The game IC will uncover the tray and hold each article up, while naming it so that they whole group sees each thing and hears its name separately. Cover the tray after 2 minutes and allow the group 5 minutes to write the names of as many of the 20 objects as they can remember.

For actual day event, please choose whether you want to join orienteering or Kim's game. 

Please SMS your Patrol Leaders your preferred choice and your emails LATEST by 11 Aug (Saturday) !

State clearly whether you want to join ORIENTEERING or KIM'S GAME.

For dance competition,  state the song you intend to use, proposed practice dates, venue which you guys would like to use (so that Ms Juni can book it in advance)

For Fashion show, submit a coloured drawing that clearly shows the design for their outfit (indicate clearly in their drawing what recycled materials is used in the outfit),  costume logo, a write-up stating reason for choice of costume, and chosen materials.

For cheerleading competition, type out the cheer they have composed, what props (max 2) you guys will be using and proposed dates for their practice sessions.

For singing/musical comp, must state the song which you guys will be singing to, their lyrics, and the instruments that you all would be using.

or healthy snack competition,  submit a write up, break down of budget, draw up the snack which you would like to make during the competition, equipment/utensils needed (state whether electrical supply required), ingredients/supplies (such as hand gloves) required & quantity.

For recycled toy competition, include materials required, write up, breakdown of budget, drawing of toy (must be coloured), state recycled material used, and submit a sample of their actual soft toy for practice. Do note that the soft toy has to be made from scratch on that day, but you guys should practice making once before hand.

For gadget making competition, include the sketch up of the gadget, approximate no of chopsticks, actual product made before hand, a write up of gadget, types of materials used, chopsticks, satay sticks, scissors and strings etc. NO glue and tape are allowed. Gadget has to made on that day itself with own materials which will be inspected by the judges.

For advertisement competition, include materials required, make an actual product, state down the objectives, and how it reflects the theme "Empowering Girls", do a write up on the style and overall design. 

Please meet up with your group members to discuss this! This is the annual East Division Day competition in which we will be competing with other schools' guides! This is an opportunity to exhibit our talents and bring glory to CCHMS GIRL GUIDES!:D Please do your best! :)
