Week 9's Activity

Wednesday
please fall in at the concourse in your half guides uniform with white socks  and nails trimmed at 3.20pm sharp. please remember to wear your PE shorts underneath your skirts!
also,please bring along forms you have not handed up yet (ex. guides shop service form, guides shop duty form, centenary walk form and Sec2 Discovery Centre form)

On Friday ,for Sec 1&3 ,there will be no cca. For Sec2s, you will be  heading out to Discovery Centre with the NPCC Sec2s. For Sec4s you will need to stay back on Friday during normal CCA timings to check CCA records for awhile.

IMPORTANT**

The reporting time to the concourse on Saturday is 7.10am not 7.20am! Please make sure you come on time and dont be late please thank you ٩( 'ω' )و 

Week 8's Activity and Centenary Walk

Hello Guides! This is the announcement on the 2017 Centenary Celebration Walk. It will be held on the 4th of March (Saturday) at Singapore Botanic Gardens. The reporting time to school will be 7.20am and we will be heading to Botanic Gardens from school. The event will be from 7.20am-1.00pm. Sec 1s are to report in their red PE tshirt and white school skirt whereas Sec2-4s will need to report in your full Guides uniform. Please remember to bring along a small bag with your water bottle and your necessities. Sec2s are to buy drinks for the patrol and Sec3s are to bring picnic mats for the patrol. Please remember to hand up your forms to your PLs during row call on Wednesday.

Please take note, on the 3rd of March, Sec 2s will be combining with the NPCC Sec 2s on the trip to discovery center. Also on the 3rd of March, the Sec3s will be heading to Botanic Gardens for a full rehearsal. There will also be a checking of CCA records on 3rd of March for Sec4s.

Week 7's Activity & Update on Botanic Gardens Centenary Walk

hellu guides, this is an update on regarding the trip this Saturday to Botanic Gardens ! The trip will be postponed so there is no need for you guys to turn up to sch on Saturday, which means there is no need to bring the food and drinks or buy the drinks yet . Regarding the Friday rehearsal at Botanic Gardens which the sec 3s are going, it will be put on hold until we tell you guys more on Friday.

Sec 2 guides, please wear your HALF SCHOOL UNIFORM to cca and BRING your FULL GUIDES UNIFORM to the concourse for our fellow sec 1s to try on !! rmb to polish the badges and iron your scarfs as well.

cca trials/ week 3's activity

Wednesday
We will be holding the CCA Trials for the Sec1s tomorrow , so please do perform up to standard. Please assemble at the concourse in your half guides uniform with WHITE SOCKS, and nails trimmed at 3.20pm. 
Friday
Please assemble at the concourse in your full guides uniform with WHITE SOCKS and nails trimmed at 3.20pm. CCA Trials will still be held so coy1 and 2 sec 3s, make sure you learn the steps on how to do popcorn properly

All Sec3s , please remember to bring your punks to the guides room tomorrow so that you can place it in the guides room. 
Coy1 Sec3s, please get ready for fire starting and take up the initiative as the Sec 1s will be watching you!:) 
Coy2 Sec3s, please remember on the steps on how to make popcorn as you will be leading the Sec 1s with confidence(!!) on how to start the fire with solid fuel and how to make popcorn. Mynah and Sparrow will be leading the 1st session, followed by Dove and Oriole with the 2nd session. 

Steps on how to make popcorn:
1. Wrap aluminum foil into a bowl shape
2. Place the corn kennels, a little bit of oil, salt or sugar into it
3. Wrap up the aluminum foil and fold down the top of the foil and make sure there are no holes or gaps in between the folds 
4. Make sure there is sufficient space inside the foil for the popcorn to pop
5. Place the wrapped foil into the messtin and place messtin over the fire
6. Shake the messtin consistently and to ensure that it will not burn, shake the messtin slightly back and forth.
7. After no popping sound can be heard, carefully unwrap the aluminum foil and pour out contents into the bag which afterwards, you can add a little bit of oil and sugar or salt to make sure it sticks to the popcorn.

*Please remember your punks, and WHITE SOCKS , do not forget to bring it, we will not want to see anyone flipping their Chung Cheng socks.

week2's reflection

Wednesday

On Wednesday, we were seated in our companys planning ideas for the short video we had to film. All my batchmates gave a lot of intersting ideas and we would cooperate well with each other  .We also played some company games. As always , the games were very fun as that was the time everyone would be laughing and talking together,  and there was a strong bond between everybody. After this we went down to the concourse to drill .We also learnt more commands and  I also kept making mistakes in turning ever though I knew the commands as sometimes I just copied the wrong person and this led to a lot of  confusion. But overall, I enjoyed Wednesdays activity as we could learn more and communicate to one another

Friday

On friday we all had to wear out full uniform and gather at the concourse by 3.20pm. It was a bit rush for the upper sec because we all only had 20 mins to prepare, but nevertheless, all of us were on time. After we did uniform check and roll call, the sec 3's were split in to their repective coys, coy 2 did fire starting first while coy 1 did their video filming. We first started off by turfing a square on the ground. Afterwards, we started to put twigs into the square starting from the thickest to the thinnest. Then, we had to use a matchstick to start the fire, for right handers, we have to start from the left to the right. It was very hard maintaining the fire, we had to constant bend down and put our face closely to the ground to blow the fire in order to spread the fire and keep the fire burning. We then started to boil a kettle of water over the fire. After the water boiled we had to pour water over the fire to extinguish the fire. We were all very shocked by the fact that we had to use our own bare hands to clear away all the burned twigs, but nevertheless, we all helped each other to clear everything away. By the end of fire starting, we all smelled very smokey and we had a lot of ash sticking to our hair.It was a really fun experience for us as this is our first time doing fire starting. Afterwards, Coy 2 then proceeded on to to film their video, and we it was very fun as we did the mannequin challenge we had to stay very still and it was very funny.

week2's activity

Hello Guides!! Here's a important update, from now on, CCA starting time will be 3.20pm instead of the old timing.  It's the first activity of the week so be prepared!

In advance, we will be doing a GGS100 Video competition and it is compulsory for everyone to join. It will be required that we will have to create our own video for two song choices "When We Shine" or "We Change the World" and show the world what Girl Guiding looks like in Singapore. We will be split into COY 1 and COY 2 and coming up with two videos, one per COY.  We can come up with any choreography,skit, song or anything you can think of, so please brainstorm and share actively during the Wednesday activity.

Camp Reminders

Please report to school concourse before 7am in school PE shirt and pants. The last 2 patrols to arrive will have area cleaning and do the cleaning of the toilets on the last day of camp. Please bring all your items for campfire and mess tin cooking. Personal belongings such as wallets and handphones will be collected at the start of camp so please place it in a clear zip lock bag as a patrol and label your company and patrol on it.

Camp Preparation/18 Nov

The reporting time for the extra activity for Sec 3s will be 9am-1pm (whenever finished) . Please wear your pe shirt and pe shorts and report to the guides room. We will be building 2 canvas tents and for each tent , there must be one clothes line. In addition, we will be building a luggage rack , also known as rack for bags/beddings , so please look at your guides handbook.

There will be no outdoor cooking this year but instead replaced by messtin cooking as we will be visiting Camp Christine for pioneer skill training !
