Reflection for 7 March:)

Today we fall in at 3pm, 15minutes later than usual, in guides full uniform for the sec 2s.  Everyone had to bring their guides full uniform except the sec 1s as it's photoshooting day !!:D First we greet the seniors as usual and did uniform check. Some of the ex seniors came back today and I was happy that they came back to visit us:) Then the sec 2s had their drillings. I feel that we should continue working hard for our drillings and put in more efforts as we are already seniors of the sec 1s and we should set a good example for them. During drilling, I felt that I was quite lag for some of the commands and I hope I can improve on that. Next we had cheering session YAY!! Cheering sessions are always full of laughter and fun and I really love cheering sessions:)  Then the sec 2s and sec 3s went to do our total defence badge work and I'm glad that we all manage to pass. Lastly we had our photo shoot. But before photo shoot we did our sizing first. I feel that time really pass very fast as last year I took the photo as a sec 1 and now I am a sec 2 so we should all cherish our moments with each other before the seniors step down.

Reflection for 5 March:)

On the 5th of March , we falled in at 3pm and had our roll call . The sec 3s then went to have their canvas pitching and the sec 2s went for drill and we learnt got to improve some drills (: like moving three steps to the front , back , left and right (: although we didn't do it very well , but I think all of us did put in effort in trying to do our best to memorize the command and I think we would be able to do it very soon (-: We then had gadget making , where my group made a shoe rack , I think we didn't really do a good job as the sides of the shoe rack was loose and thus I think we could have improved more on our gadget makings (: afterwards , we had our patrol BBQ party!! it was really fun as it was the first time we had our barbecue party during cca ^^ we brought food to barbecue and got to spend more time with our seniors and juniors which I really enjoyed very much and hope to have another one again ;D

Reflection for 19 February:)

On the 19th of February, we fell in at the concourse at 3pm and did the usual stuff like row call. We then proceeded to the Grand Auditorium to have our World Thinking Day rehearsal with the scouts. We practiced longer than the scouts as we had to help the sec1s work on their turning. Although it was tiring, it was worth it as our schoolmates would get to see a very uniform squad :)  After the rehearsal, we had out Total Defence Silver badge test. Most of the groups did not pass and I felt that all of us should have worked harder. Ms Tan also pointed out our mistakes so that we can improve on them. I hope that every one of us can pass the Total Defence badge for our retest :)

Sec 1 bronze total defence badge work (Part 1)

Hello sec 1s!

Hope you had a great weekend :)

There will be an upcoming badge work for all of you to get the total defence bronze badge. Here's how you should do the first part of it.

This badge work consists of two parts (part two will be posted on a later date). First part is an individual work [to be done at home] worth 15 marks.

Objective: To explain TOTAL DEFENCE (TD) and its necessity. [15 marks]
Guides are to do up a poster to promote and create awareness among the people about Total Defence. The poster must be able to effectively explain at least one of the five aspects of total defence – economic, social, military, civil and psychological defence and needs to include the total defence logo. The poster needs to be at least A4 in size, at most A3. The poster must be can hand drawn and must be fully coloured.

Posters will be graded based on how relevant it is to total defence and how effectively it can explain the aspect chosen by the guide. Detailed works will receive higher marks. The amount of effort put into the work by every guide plays a very important role in the marks awarded. Interesting and attractive work will be given a higher grade.

Monday, 20 January 2014

Reflection for 17 January

Friday was our second activity of the year and we fell in at 2.30 as usual. After we had our uniform check and roll call, we sat as a patrol and prepared the stuff for indoor cooking. While waiting, we got to know more about the sec 1 and her name was Victoria :) We started the fire and cooked our pasta. It was quite successful and the food was yummy. Cleaning is a must and after that, we did cheering and even taught the sec ones a little :)

Reflection for 15 January:)

Today was the very first guides activity in 2014. It was also the day of CCA Experience for the Secondary 1 students. YAY! :) We fell in at the concourse at 2.45p.m. After roll call, the Sec 1s who turned up for Girl Guides CCA trials joined us in games. We played games like ' Captain's Calling', 'Murderer' and another one where we have to guide our partners to pick up our shoes from the centre ring of the circle. We then had a mini drilling session where we taught the Sec 1s some cheers :D After which, when the Sec 1s left, the Sec 2s did some drilling before proceeding to do PT. This activity was a fun one and hopefully, the Sec 1s will join guides this year! (:

Reflection for 18 October:)

Last Friday was our last Girl Guides activity for the year. I've then realize that I've already been a guide for a year! Time really flies and I has made a lot of lifetime friends there and also learnt a lot of new things.
That day, we had our tent pitching and I worked with my friends and together, we pitched the tent together. At first, I thought it was impossible to pitch a tent in half an hour for me and my guide friends but we did it! Although it was not a perfect one, but it turned out quite well.

Reflection for 16 October

On Wednesday, we had to fall in at 2.30 as usual. After our roll call and uniform check, we drilled for a little while. Next, we had our ice-cream making initiative, YAY! The instructors came from ice cream skool. They are friendly and helpful. We were each given a hand out about the ingredients. The instructors did a demonstration on how to make the Milo ice-cream, I watched her do it excitedly, can't wait to start making.

Energy Efficiency Badge for Sec 2s!

Hello Guides!

You guys will be visiting the PSA building tomorrow to complete the last segment of your energy efficiency badge work.
For the first component, you guys are required to complete an assignment ( Home Audit ) which contributes to 50% of your overall test marks. Most of you have handed the work to me for checking. For those who have not done so, do remember to bring your assignment which has your electricity bills attached to it. You need not hand up to me for checking anymore.

For those guides who have handed up to me on Wednesday for checking, please look for me in 3IT, old block 4th floor, before FRC to retrieve your assignment as majority of you need to make amendments.

These people need to bring your electricity bills as the assignment submitted to me does not include your bills :
 1.Foo Jun Wei
 2.Sheena Ng
 3. Dinise Chng
 4. Adelle Wee (You need to bring bills from March-May 2013, the one you gave me was from October)

If there is a star on the first page of your assignment, it means that there are certain requirements not fulfilled or there are certain errors. The mistakes will be written beside the star, so do make suitable changes and then erase the stars draw on your paper!

Thank you,
Please remember to bring full uniform with everything needed!

Reflection for 11 October:)

On Friday, we fall in at 2.30 at the concourse and we had uniform check and roll call as usual, while the sec 2s went for their energy efficient course at the psa building. After that, we played h2o and it was really fun and exciting! We had to stand in pairs and there was one runner and one catcher. The catcher tried to catch the runner while the runner stood beside one of the pairs and the person who is standing beside at the other side would become the runner and has to run, and the cycle continued!  We drilled on the service road for a while and the seniors taught us how to tie snake lashes and clove hitch so that we could create gadgets to raise our bags up in the tent so that it would not touch the grass.  We had PT and it was fun because we got into pairs and piggybacked each other and we also did wheel barrel. We also ran around the lake twice. Although it was tiring, I enjoyed myself very much and I’m looking forward to the next activity!J
